The Zehrens Go Global

Arrived in Beijing! ~ July 5

Well we made it to LAX with plenty of time to spare before our flight on Air China took off. What a great plane! Each of us had our own touch screen tv with loads of movies, games and tv shows to watch. The food wasn’t bad either 🙂 The flight went faster than expected. Unfortunately, John was the only one who caught about a two hour nap on the flight. It should be noted that Beijing is about 16 hours ahead of Pacific Coast time.

The Beijing airport was gorgeous and massive. Tons of glass windows and very modern. We all were excited when we landed so we got a second wind. We arrived at out rental apartment which to our relief is really nice and has good AC! Families actually live here but some units are rented to tourists like ourselves. We have two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a living room and kitchen. We even receive maid service daily!

After dropping off our luggage, we ventured out our first night to get dinner close by. After much debating, we chose an outdoor restaurant and then began the task of picking out kid friendly food from a Chinese menu. Everyone but Kallin was successful in their meal choice. Literally 5 minutes after we paid our bill and started to walk back to the hotel it started to pour down raining. We were so lucky (we didn’t have umbrellas with us).

Lights were out by 9:30 p.m.! We are all excited to be here.
