John, Stacy, Kallin (17), Zoe(15) & Hailey (11)
Our family is embarking on an around the world adventure sparked by John wanting to literally fly around the globe. Additionally, as many of you know, a year from now our oldest daughter Kallin will be preparing to leave for college. We wanted to do something special before our family unit changes.
Some of you may wonder why we have chosen the destinations that we will be traveling to. First off, we wanted to expose our daughters to diverse cultures that differ so much from where we live. Zoe took a semester of Mandarin and really had an interest in going to China. China was a destination that Great Grandma Marion always wanted to travel to but never quite made it there. Grandpa Jerry, Grandma Judy & our cousins the Valens all traveled to China with rave reviews. We will be spending our time in the city of Beijing while in China. As for Russia, Kallin wanted to see St. Petersburg after studying about it in AP Euro her sophomore year. Grandpa Jerry went there in 1969 on a closely supervised dental exchange and Uncle Mike went in 1989 through his high school. John and Stacy thought it would be awesome to see this country so rich in history. We will be visiting the exciting cities of Moscow and St. Petersburg. Lastly, the family will be in Istanbul, Turkey twenty-one years to the day from when John & Stacy honeymooned there in 1991. As some of you may recall, this was shortly after the first Persian Golf War. This stop in Turkey will have a special meaning to us. How lucky we will be to see the sights again with our children this time.
We wish that our family members and friends were able to join us. We hope that you will follow us on our website and get a taste of our global adventure.

Did you get my email on BoBo the watch guy? Don’t miss going to his shop as it is a real “trip”. I sent all the info on which market to go to, the number of the stand and then the little girls take you thru alleys etc. to the actual building his office is in. Like a spy novel. Best deal in Beijing. All the pilots go there.

WOW, are you leaving your mark on China or what. Can just see Zoe on the stage with thousands of Chinese looking at that silver hair. Then we almost “died” thinking of John playing the guitar with the American blonde singers entertaining the hordes of Chinese. Hope you have as much of an impact in RussiaHA Sounds like you are seeing all the things we did in a fraction of the time so know you must be “dragging” at night. All is well at home and Buddy is loving his sidekick Jim.
